An American poet; born in Holly Springs, Miss., Feb. 26, 1849; died there, July 22, 1884. In 1872 she became private secretary to Longfellow. She wrote: "The Radical Club", a poem; "Suwanee River Tales"; "Like Unto Like" (1881); and "Dialect Tales" (1884).
