A bandage so called in consequence of its somewhat resembling a spike of barley. The turns of the bandage cross like the letter V; - each leaving a third of the roller uncovered. It is distinguished into ascending and descending. It may be applied over various parts of the body, and in a different manner in each case: thus, there is the Spica seu Fascia inguina'lis, Spica inguina'lis duplex, the spica for the shoulder, and another for the thumb.
