A Polish woman of letters; born about 1830. She received an excellent education, and has acquired a style of almost classic purity. She has published both historical and poetical works, among them: "Tales of Our Times" (1853); "Poetic Tales" (1855); "Elizabeth Druzbacka", a poem (1855); a "History of Hungary" (1863); "Sebastian Klouswieg", one of her finest poetical compositions; and a "View of the Literature of the Peoples of the Middle Ages, Particularly the Slavs and Germans" (1856).
