An American miscellaneous writer; born in Lebanon, Conn., 1807; died in Chicago, Ill., 1869. He published: "Selections of Juvenile and Miscellaneous Poems" (1836); "Sketch of the History of West Point" (1840); "Pantology, or Systematic Survey of Human Knowledge" (1841); and "Jerusalem, and Other Poems" (1857).

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
