An American journalist, editor, and author; born in Sandusky, O., Oct. 23, 1827. He edited the Art Journal; the United States Journal; the "Dime Biographical Library", for which he wrote many books; Beadle's Magazine (1866-67): and published "History of the Southern Rebellion" (4 vols., 1862-65); "Incidents and Anecdotes of the War" (1863); and "History of American Conspiracies" (1864); "Biographies".
