A Byzantine writer on miscellaneous subiects; born at Constantinople, 1018; died about 1079. He wore the title "prince of philosophers", conferred on him by the emperors. Among his writings are: "Paraphrase of Aristotle on Interpretation" (1503); "A Work Distributed to the Four Mathematical Sciences, Arithmetic, Music, Geometry, and Astronomy" (printed 1532); "Synopsis of the Laws", in iambic verse (1544); "Dialogue about the Action of Demons"; "Of the Virtues of[precious] Stones".
