-
An overextension of the knee-joint. It may be congenital, the child being born breech first with the thighs flexed upon the abdomen and the knees hyperextended, so that the feet are next to the face; or it may be acquired, due to stretching of the posterior ligament of the knee-joint, as in locomotor ataxia and in coxitis. The head of the tibia is displaced forward on the condyles of the femur.
