-
A nitrogenized crystallizable neutral substance, obtained by the agency of water and heat in making broths and soups. It does not combine either with acids or alkalies. By the action of strong acids, creatine is converted into Creatinine or Kreatinine, a substance which has a strong alkaline reaction, and forms crystallizable salts with acids. It preexists to a small extent in the juice of flesh; and is found in conjunction with creatine in urine.
