Order, Umbelliferae. Sex. Syst. Pentandria Digynia. The seeds, Caraway seeds, (Prov.) Carvy seeds, Carnaba'dia, Car'oua, Carum (Ph. U.S.), are carminative. Dose, swallowed whole or bruised. The oil, Oleum Car'ui, (F.) Huile de carvi, has the properties of the seeds. Aqua Car'ui, Car'away Water, is officinal in the Pharmacopoeias of London and Dublin.
