A Czech poet and story-writer; born (Pankl) in Vienna, Feb. 4, 1820; died in Prague, Jan. 21, 1862. She studied the folk-lore of the Czechs, and embodied it in poetic narratives, notably "Little Grandmother", and the "Little Mountain Village".
