A Danish poet; born at Copenhagen, July 20. 1861. His first very promising prose comedy, "Lindow's Bairns" (1881). was followed by the prose tragedy "Nero" (1885). The author had meantime traveled extensively in Europe and the East; then, together with a series of prose dramas, he produced three historical and romantic plays in verse. He makes dexterous use of the resources of dramaturgic art, and gives his native genius free play regardless of literary fashions and conventions.
