A small arch; a cradle, (F.) Arceu, Archet. A semicircular box or basket used for preventing the bed-clothes from coming in contact with injured or diseased parts. An ordinance of the Grand Duke of Tuscany forbade mothers to sleep with an infant near them, unless it was put under a solid cradle.
