An American poet and miscellaneous writer; born in New York, Nov. 17, 1821; killed near Cincinnati, July 20, 1865. An Episcopal clergyman, he became a Roman Catholic in 1852, and later a priest. He wrote: "Pynnshurst" (1852); "Life of Sir Walter Scott" (1852); "The Blood-Stone" (1853); "Lescure"; "Life of Mary Queen of Scots" (1857).
