(1741-1827), of Pennsylvania, was prominent as a portrait painter. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1779. He painted likenesses of nearly all the prominent officers in the Continental army. He painted the first portrait of Washington in 1772. His versatility was marked.
