An Arabic philosopher, known also as Avicenna; born in Afshena, Bokhara, 980; died at Hamaden, Persia, 1037. The titles of his works are so numerous that the reader is referred to his biography in the "Library" for an authoritive enumeration of them as well as for a history of his career.
