The first issue of this newspaper was made October 21, 1854, in Wakarusa, Kansas, but it was really printed in Pennsylvania. It was the first newspaper of Kansas. It was afterward established at Lawrence, January 6, 1855. After this the office was destroyed and the paper suspended for a time. It was soon renewed, however, and continued until 1859, when it was finally suspended.
