Parasitic animals that infest the exterior of the body,-as lice. A term which, like Helminthia erratica, Pscudohelminthes, and Pseudoparasites, is applied, also, to worms or larves of insects that have been introduced into the intestinal canal by accident. Animalcules, most frequently swallowed, are the hairworm, leech, grub of the fly, caddy insectÂ-Phalaena penguinalis; the larve of the bee, the spider, the triton palustris, lacerta aquatica, &c. In animals, bots are produced by swallowing the ova of the oestrus or gadfly. See Helminthia erratica.
