-
A disease of the eye, which consists in the mixture of the humours. - Galen. In modern times Synchysis has been applied to a morbid state of the vitreous body, in which it is reduced to a diffluent condition. Occasionally, sparkling bodies are perceptible, which seem to be seated behind the crystalline, in the vitreous humour: hence, the disease has been called sparkling synchysis or spintheropia. Confusio has, also, been used synonymously with Complexio.
