(ABR, autobaud) A process by which areceiving device determines the speed, code level, and stopbits of incoming data by examining the first character,usually a preselected sign-on character. ABR allows thereceiving device to accept data from a variety of transmittingdevices operating at different speeds without needing toestablish data rates in advance.
