The Angle of E. of a point is the angle, in the vertical plane passing through the point and the eye, between a horizontal line and a line drawn from the eye to the point. The E. of the pole at any station is the arc of the meridian between the (elevated) pole and the (rational) horizon. It measures the latitude of the station.
