“Moritz Hartmann”

  • An Austrian poet and agitator; born in Duschnik, Bohemia, Oct. 15, 1821; died Vienna, May 13, 1872. He was from youth ardent social reformer, wrote poems under this inspiration. His "Chalice Sword"(1845) distinctly revolutionary. became a "poet of the people", participated movement 1848, elected to Frankfurt Parliament. "Poetic Chronicle Father Mauritius"(1849) attained wide popularity. lived exile for some years, but continued write poetry prose wanderings, reputation constantly increasing. Deep feeling love freedom permeate all work.
